Art with an impact!
Hi, I'm Micah, a junior in college. My interest and talent in art have evolved. I really owe the refinement of my skills to art classes taken with Todd Poteet, former Director of the Art Effect’s Art Institute, Poughkeepsie, NY, and also to Rick Price an amazing instructor and freelance artist and illustrator. That is where I began to learn technique, acknowledge that I had skills, and take art more seriously.
Currently, I’m majoring in Geography, Environmental Resource Management on a Pre-Law track.
I decided to pick up art again and have begun to focus my work on our connection to nature and environmental activism, as in my latest piece, "Don't Hurt Yourself".
I want my art to have a positive impact on lives. In addition to volunteering to teach swimming and feed the homeless, I am, therefore, donating proceeds from every sale! You can help me! See my goals.
Here are my goals:
1. Pay for college! Through the sale of my art, I intend to pay for college so that one day I will become a public interest attorney.
2. Continue to feed the homeless! My family and I have volunteered at a homeless shelter with our church for over 12 years. While I'm away at school, my plan is to contribute financially to feeding the homeless and especially keep my idea of providing "goodie bags" for the homeless during holidays, going.
3. Donate to education, human rights, and environmental causes! 20% of proceeds from all sales are donated to education and human rights causes. Exception: All proceeds from Get Your Hair Wet will go towards a swimming scholarship for a child on Mid-Hudson Heatwaves . (See "100% Donation" Page.)
